Installation Art

Grade 7 students learned about contemporary artist, Slinkachu. We looked at his 'Little People Project' which started in 2006. The project involves the remodelling and painting of miniature model train set characters, which he then places and leaves on the street. It is both a street art installation project and a photography project.

Inspired by Slinkachu's installation project, students begun a group installation project.
I gave each group a random object such as a scotch-tape, push-pins, buttons, pencil sharpener, and flowers. Students did brainstorming to create a storyline with little figures that they made.
Like Slinkachu, students placed the figures in a place where students thought it was effective setting for the installation art.

Here are the photographs that students took. We had so much fun making the figures and taking photographs of them.
